Why an Educational Assessment?

Educational assessments help identify an individual’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses, enabling tailored recommendations and interventions to support learning needs across school, tertiary education, home, and work environments.

We use the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-V) and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-IV) to assess cognitive abilities such as:

• Verbal comprehension

• Perceptual reasoning

• Working memory

• Processing speed

• Fluid reasoning

These assessments also provide a full-scale IQ score. In addition, the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT-III) is used to assess academic performance in:

• Reading

• Writing

• Mathematics

• Oral language

Who Can Benefit?

Cognitive assessments are valuable for both children and adults. Common reasons for referral include:

Identifying Learning Disorders: Detection of conditions like Dyslexia (reading), Dysgraphia (writing), or Dyscalculia (mathematics).

Educational Planning: Informs the development of Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) or helps guide adult education and career planning.

Accommodation Needs: Determines the need for learning or workplace accommodations, such as assistive technology.

Early Intervention: Helps identify and address difficulties early to support academic and occupational success.

Monitoring Progress: Allows professionals to track development and adjust supports as needed.

Diagnostic Purposes: Can assist in diagnosing intellectual giftedness or intellectual disabilities.

How Are Assessments Conducted?

Assessments are conducted in-person using an iPad, which creates an engaging experience, especially for children. The process takes approximately 90–120 minutes, depending on the individual.

A brief summary of findings is shared immediately following the assessment. A detailed written report with recommendations is provided within 4–6 weeks.

All assessments are conducted by our skilled team of provisional and registered psychologists, who bring extensive experience in educational assessment.

Cost:

Standard cognitive/educational Assessment: $1600 (includes the full report)

Please note: Additional charges may apply for more complex assessments or if further follow-up is required.

NDIS Funding:

Assessments are fully covered under the NDIS if the participant has sufficient funding in their plan.
